New York, Milan, London and Paris...the fashion shows are finally soooo over and if you followed those models down the runaway you know that furs will be a hot piece again in the next winter, with people saying that it is back 'with a vengeance.' The truth is that it never went away...people would just rather not express their choice of it openly, simply because the eternal discussion of whether to wear or not to wear fur will ever end. It becomes too heated ...and then we are left with some of the most stupid rationalizations like vintage fur is ok to wear, they say that the animals have been dead too long, people are so silly sometimes. Now the battle is about being real or fake. Did you see Chanel's 'triumph of fake fur' ?? Is this also the future for Fendi ? I am getting confused...that's why I will always love Lacroix who once said "I'm no hypocrite. I love fur," ....moi? I'd rather wear anything than go naked...I wonder what PETA thought about Quentin's statement !!??..... sign of times...and of course, the Russians are back in the business...need I say more?

Quentin Veron t-shirt

Her history is very interesting, she had a new approach to life when she was celebrating her grandson's birthday in a nightclub in London, at first the bouncers didn't even want to let her in, because she was too old. Once, she was allowed in the club " She was dumbfound " in the modern atmosphere that was very different from the time she used to go out...it made her feel younger again. She expressed her feelings to her grandson(who though she went really gaga...but not in the poker face sense), but then he was kind enough to introduce her to a friend who happened to be a French director and producer, he helped her to become a DJ and she is rapidly becoming a sensation in Europe, you can learn more about her or even book DJ Mamy Rock in her own site. So what are you going to be when you "grew up " already?
http://mamyrock.com/

Designing Women was created by Linda Bloodworth-Thomason, it aired on CBS from 1986 to 1993, running for seven seasons. I bought all the episodes which have become available on DVD (see link below).

At the time I wasn't really sure what the all thing was really about, I'm on the slow side, but I kept it. So few days ago I received the second issue of The Slant, which I must say I had a pleasurable short time reading it. It also came with an introduction card explaining that the first issue was tailored for Unionmade, Todd Barket's new men's shop in San Francisco and that the second issue is for Grüner, the Chris Israel/Chefstable restaurant project in Portland,Oregon. Like in the first issue, this one had again a section called The Icon Showdown, which it is nothing really new, but it is quite amusing and informative. But my favorite part of this fun publication is called "Blind Items", which are three sentences with very smart statements...love it! I tried to go into their web site to find out a little bit more about it, but there is only one page up, but here is the link below anyway and I can't wait for the Issue 3 !
http://www.downwiththeslant.com

The thing is I don't want to understand human labels: drag queens, club kids, freak chics (which I use it), gay, straight, stupid, smart, trannies...we are all in the same boat, we're all gonna die(yay NeNe)...I dress up how I want in different ways because it is how I translate inner pain and madness to "my" outside world, because it eases my choices in my life...some people call it depression, others use other names, I call it a pure expression of what I want to be that day, or that moment...not that I really care what people that I don't know thinks of me...if I did, I wouldn't leave the house with a Mac Computer monitor in my head...but it is my own therapy, and it is twisted, but somehow in all this I can find happiness.

Reading the reactions to Michael Musto's great post on his blog about my looks, only makes me more fascinated about human misery...people that don't know me, him or Acid Betty have an opinion so radical about the perfection that they want to see or to what they want to believe, so this small drama makes me so happy to be who I am...and that includes my acceptance of others...including their ignorance or perhaps still their own lack of self discovery, which for that what they only need is a clean mirror.

On the negative comments, the only one I have something to say is about the RuPaul's drag race...I wouldn't enter that race because it is not what I am about, but I respect every single one of them for having the drive and skills to be in that great arena and to fight how they can and know for their dreams, I just rather do it other way, and on my own personal race I have no desire to be a star... but I really believe that RuPaul's message for inner beauty is sincere. He walked the walk so he can do the talk. I truly love him for that...

by the way...I am thinking about a new look and it will be: " Anna Wintour's worst nightmare. Horrid! ".
and that's all ...

La Daily Musto
http://blogs.villagevoice.com/dailymusto/archives/2010/03/spotlight_on_th.php

Today everybody is discussing which movies and actors will be worthy of one these little naked gold man; I love movies, just like books and music, they have become a point of reference for me...I strong believe that nobody can live without some type of inspiration, this all idea of mental self sufficiency is only for those who have not lived enough to understand that the world is bigger than them ...movies can take us to a place where it can possibly help us discover so much about ourselves and to better relate to others,so below are 10 movies that have helped me in this journey, I love them so much but Babette's Feast is by far my favorite movie of all time.

Chip Duckett delivered last night a memorable New York moment celebrating a true New York legend in a penthouse filled with New York legends from Robyn Bird, Linda Simpson, Joan Rivers(hosting the night) and even Ronnie Spector...sorry to say but if you were not in that room, I mean in that duplex penthouse, where else could you have been?

They were all there to celebrate Michael Musto's 25th Anniversary at The Village Voice...and as Michael himself said, he had invited 500 people that always support him to celebrate this important date. I think it is correct to say this great writer and that I also like to call a culture observer has contantly given us what we need, and that is valid point of views without the hypocrisy that is everywhere in our society. Michael has smartly accepted his own flaws given him the freedom to discuss whatever comes up in pop culture in the capital of world. Joan Rivers said out and loud in her speech last night that Michael epitomizes what New York is about...I was happy to witness such moment.

I saw people last night that I had seen in a long time, and it was also just great to know Michael's family. His mother Anna Musto was so adorable. For me it was a perfect night with great entertainment by Dirty Martini, Murray Hill, Bridget Everett, Tommy Femia who did a duet with Michael, and the fabulous Talulah De Bayous and Vodka Stinger...and for those who are wondering, yes Michael has class, it is old and the right school, if he invites you to such type of party...the cocktails and the hors d'oeuvres are on the house! But I just couldn't taste anything...you know how it is when you have a severe make up look and it is also dieting time!
Thank you Chip Duckett and Michael Musto.
http://blogs.villagevoice.com/dailymusto/

Michael Musto and Gazelle
New York City
Michael Musto's 25th Anniversary
@ The Village Voice
To respect other cultures. To treat her servants as equals. To believe that every man and woman was worthy of at least a moment's close attention. To make the best of any social engagement, however dreary. To value the hours when she was left to her own devices. To rely on her dogs for company and affection. To read books for entertainment and not merely lessons. And to keep a diary, however sporadically."
