fernando carpaneda solo show opening night on june 25th

On June 25th in our Big Apple, the Leslie/Lohman Gay Art Foundation and the Kymara Gallery will present " QUEER.PUNK" , the first solo show of Fernando Carpaneda , a Brazilian and New York City based ante`artist and gay activist. Fernando's art has the " on your face " approach, he measures nobody's feelings but himself when expressing his opinion about the hypocrisy in the gay community and the homophobic thoughts of the heterosexual existence. Carpaneda also uses everyday outcasts as the subject of his unique sculptures, from hustlers to punks and from junkies to homeless he manages to give soul to these small pieces of art, in a way that is not only disturbing, but also liberating. Religion and politics are themes often reflected in his creations, mostly as a rebel way to protest against extremism in such arenas. Fernando will show a sculpture of Brazilian politician Jair Bolsonaro, who believes that children who have gay tendencies should be spanked by their parents. Carpaneda featured Bolsonaro in a gay orgy in this sculpture which has caused a lot of controversy in Brazil...oh well...the way I see it is that two can play this game, if Bolsonaro can say what his heart feels, Carpaneda should also sculpt what he feels in his heart.
I have been very privileged of being the subject of his sculptures 3 times, two Charlie Doll versions and a Gazelle sculpture. You can read more about Charlie Doll in the link below.
As a way of saying thank you, it could only be natural for me to be a part of his event, so I will be a giant Charlie Doll Gazelle live installation at the opening night...don't ask me any questions (LOL)...so get out of your eggshell and come to Soho to see how Carpaneda really does eggs...
